You Just Took a Major Step Toward Changing Your Career
Take a breath and let this sink in. You made the decision that thousands of ICT professionals talk about but never take action on. You’re here because you want more for your career, your skills, and your future. That alone puts you in rare company.
I’m glad you’re here. Now let’s get to work.
First Steps
1. Document your current knowledge
Take this practice exam. (These are not actual test questions, just practice questions to help gauge your studying. We don’t have access to the actual questions and if we did…. we would not share them). Once you complete it document your score. You will take it again at the end of the class to document your progress.

Access Code (all caps): LTCTDMM
2. Purchase your 15th edition TDMM NOW!
Purchase your TDMM now. You will need one to participate in class. You need the 15th edition. BICSI is no longer testing on the 14th edition and there have been changes. You will want to have it in your hands minimum of one week before class starts (January 28th, 7:00 PM)

3. Start Reading
Each week in this study group, you are expected to read 70 pages from the TDMM.
That breaks down to 10 pages per day.
This is not optional reading. This is the foundation of your success on the distribution design credentialing exam and in your career as a designer.
If you try to cram this the night before our session, you will struggle. If you pace it daily, you will win.
Here is the reading assignments

⏱ How to Approach Your Daily Reading
1. Treat it like a job task, not homework
Block 20 to 30 minutes on your calendar each day. Same time, same place. Consistency beats motivation every time.
2. Read with a purpose
Before you start, ask yourself:
“What problem is this section trying to solve in the real world?”
Exam questions are about application, not memorization.
3. Slow down on tables, figures, and callouts
If it has a table, diagram, or shaded box, pay attention. That is where exam questions love to hide.
4. Use a notebook, not just a highlighter
Write down:
- Key terms you do not fully understand
- Why a rule or practice exists
- One question you would ask a peer about the material
If you cannot explain it in your own words, you do not own it yet.
5. Stop when your brain gets tired
If your focus is gone, stop. Ten focused pages beats twenty pages you barely remember.
Your Study Group Resources
📍 Zoom Link for Weekly Sessions
Here is the zoom link you will need to join us every Wednesday night at 7:00PM. The duration is 60-90 minutes so plan accordingly.

📘 What if I can’t attend one week?
If life gets in the way, and it will, each session is recorded and placed on a password protected page dedicated just for this class. Along with the videos we will also place any additional resources discussed in class. You can get there by clicking on the 2026 Study Page link below.
📝 Practice Exams
You’ll receive practice exam links throughout the program. These will help you gauge your progress and get familiar with how questions are structured. I will release them as we progress through our reading. AGAIN THE PRACTICE EXAMS ARE NOT THE ACTUAL QUESTIONS BICSI WILL USE. We don’t have access to them and if we did we would not share them. These are to just help you judge the progress of your studying. They can be located on your dedicated 2026 Study Page (link above). Please do not share the exams with anyone. Sharing the exams will cause you to be expelled from the program.
📱 My Cell Number
Yes, you can text me. If you’re stuck, overwhelmed, confused, or need direction, reach out. You are not doing this alone. Keep in mind that I may be teaching, traveling, or working on the farm so it may take me up to 24 hours to respond. My cell phone number is 813 480 4567
How to Study Effectively
This exam demands discipline, not perfection. Follow these tips and you’ll build momentum faster than you think.
Daily Reading
Chip away at small sections every day rather than cramming. Even 20 to 30 minutes makes a difference.
Take Notes in Your Own Words
Rewrite concepts the way you understand them. If you can explain it simply, you’re learning it.
Use Flashcards for Key Terms
Whether you use physical cards or an app like Anki, repetition locks terminology into long-term memory.
Practice Design Questions
Don’t just memorize definitions. Learn to apply concepts. That’s how you pass this exam.
Prep Before Each Weekly Session
Read the assigned section and jot down what confuses you. Bring those questions to class.
Review After Each Session
Spend 15 minutes reinforcing what you learned so it sticks.
What’s Expected of You
Show Up
Attend as many live sessions as possible. Being present fuels accountability. We will ask everyone if they finished their reading and follow up with you if you don’t
Do the Weekly Reading
This group works when you work the plan.
Complete the Assignments
Each week you have a homework assignment! Search the web for one resource related to that weeks reading and share it with the group. That way the group benefits from everyone! Home work assignments get emailed to homework@letstalkcabling.com and must be submitted by Tuesday 5pm (day before class).
Participate
Ask questions, share insights, and help others. The group is stronger when everyone contributes.
Stay Consistent
Small, steady effort beats occasional sprints every time.
Share the Journey
If you know someone who has talked about getting their distribution design credential , send them to the registration page. Most people never take the first step. You did. Help someone else join you.
You’re In. Now Start Strong.
The next few months will challenge you, stretch you, and sharpen your skills. But by the end, you’ll look back and realize how far you’ve come. And when you earn your distribution design credential , it will all be worth it.
I’m proud of you for signing up.
Now let’s get to work.
